Our process begins with a Life & Legacy Planning Session. This is a one-hour meeting, typically held over Zoom. Once your session is scheduled, we’ll send you a brief packet to complete and return beforehand. It’s designed to help you start thinking about what matters most and give you a clear picture of what you have. Many clients find this step alone helps them feel more organized and prepared.
During the session, Emily will walk you through what would currently happen to everything you own and everyone you love if something unexpected occurred. From there, she’ll suggest personalized estate planning options based on your values, goals, and unique circumstances.
Should we decide there are things we can do to take care of your family better than they are taken care of now, we will present you with planning options that allow you to decide on your fee and the level of service that is right for you and your family.
We know estate planning can feel overwhelming, especially when you're unsure what you need or what’s even possible. That’s why we’ve created a thoughtful process designed to educate and empower you. Our goal is to help you make confident, informed choices for the people you love, not just default to the least expensive option without fully understanding the consequences.
Personalized Guidance That Puts You First
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all planning. Every family is unique, and your plan should be too. That’s why we start by learning about your specific situation — your family structure, assets, values, and goals. From there, we guide you through your options and create a plan that reflects your wishes and fits your life. You choose the level of planning and pricing that aligns best with your needs.
We Serve Families at All Stages of Life
Whether you’re just starting out, growing your family, building a business, or navigating life transitions, we’re here to support you. Our clients include:
Ongoing Support That Grows With You
Life changes, and your plan should keep up. Our optional membership programs help ensure your plan stays current, your assets are properly titled, and you can always reach out with questions without worrying about hourly billing. Even if you’re not enrolled, we keep all clients informed about legal updates and changes that might impact your family or your plan.
Your Life Will Change Your Estate Plan Should Too
At Wellborn Law Firm, we know that life does not stand still. Over time, your family will grow and shift, your assets will evolve, and laws will continue to change. That is why your estate plan cannot be something you create once and forget about. To truly protect the people you love and everything you have worked so hard for, your plan needs to grow and change with you.
We are not just here to prepare documents and send you on your way. We are here for the long haul to support you through life’s milestones, transitions, and surprises. Whether it is a new home, a marriage, a new child or grandchild, or a change in your financial picture, we will be here to help you adjust your plan so it always reflects your current life and wishes.
That is why every estate plan we create includes a complimentary review every three years. We will reconnect, review your plan, and make sure everything still aligns with your goals and is structured for maximum protection.
We also help you keep your assets organized and properly titled so nothing gets lost or ends up in the state’s unclaimed property pool where billions of dollars sit abandoned each year. As part of your planning, we will create a Family Wealth Inventory for you to ensure your loved ones always know what you own and how to access it when it matters most.
This is more than planning for the what-ifs. It is about building an ongoing relationship with a team you can trust so you can move through life with peace of mind knowing your family and your legacy are protected every step of the way.
How We Guide You to Leave a Legacy That’s About Much More Than Just Your Money
After you are gone, your loved ones will miss you deeply. They will long for your words of counsel and concern. Hearing your voice again would be a tremendous gift.
Through our unique legacy process, you can give your loved ones the most precious gift - a lasting expression of your love. What could be more valuable?
At Wellborn Law Firm we believe estate planning is not just about transferring your financial assets and personal belongings. It’s also about capturing and transferring your valuable intangible gifts: who you are and what's important to you – your values, insights, stories and experience.
If you are a parent of minor children (or those with special needs) who are counting on you, your estate plan must begin with ensuring your children would always be taken care of by the people you want, in the way you want, no matter what happens.
At Wellborn Law Firm one of our areas of greatest expertise is in planning for the well-being and care of the children you love.
What is a Kids Protection Plan®?
A Kids Protection Plan® is a set of instructions, legal documents and even an ID card for your wallet, which you need to have if you have kids at home who count on you for their well-being and care.
If you are in an accident, your Kids Protection Plan® will make sure your children are never taken into the custody of Child Protective Services, strangers or the care of anyone you wouldn’t want because the authorities don't have clear instructions from you. And your Kids Protection Plan® will ensure your children are raised by people you choose, not someone chosen by a Judge who doesn’t know you.
